Which is unfortunate, because Subnautica doesn't run well on HDDs. There is a "mod" to back up your saved game file here as well as an AutoSave mod here (to auto-save at configured intervals, with customizable options, see description) and a QuickSave mod here (press F5 to save). sadly, it's to late for all of that.
